Following the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, this multi-institutional, ten-year study seeks to assess short and long-term impacts of the fires on human health and the environment. Researchers with expertise in environmental exposure assessment, health outcomes, wildfire risk assessment and management, and data science, will determine which pollutants are present, at what levels, where, and how they change over time. They will also determine if the L.A. fires and their aftermath are associated with immediate health issues, as well as with long-term and chronic health issues. Results are being shared directly with affected communities in real time, and the Study’s findings will have broad implications for fire response in California, throughout the West, and worldwide.
