The Kao Family Foundation (KFF) provided a grant for the creation and equipping of an electronics laboratory, which operates in conjunction with a technical program that begins at Olathe High School and concludes with an electronic technician degree through Johnson County Community College.

The Olathe Unified School District 233 was formed in 1965, with the consolidation of five smaller districts: Countryside, Meadowlane, Mount Zion, Olathe, and Pleasant View. It is the second largest district in Kansas with 55 years of consecutive growth (1965-66 through 2019-20).
