Heal the Bay

Founded by a group of activists in 1985 to address heavy pollution in Santa Monica Bay, today Heal the Bay works to make the coastal waters and watersheds of the entire Greater Los Angeles region safe and clean. With the support of 10,000+ volunteers, Heal the Bay educates the public, mobilizes community members, and partners with public agencies and policy makers to protect the health of millions of California beachgoers and preserve vital ecosystems. KFF supported the organization’s Clean Water initiatives, including its key role in the County’s Safe, Clean Water Program to capture, clean, and reuse stormwater to reduce pollution and improve water quality and resilience.
