Friends of the Los Angeles River

Founded in 1986 by poet Lewis MacAdams, Friends of the Los Angeles River (FOLAR) is dedicated to restoring and revitalizing the LA River and reconnecting the river with adjacent communities. The organization works to increase public access, restore natural habitats, and foster environmental stewardship. KFF supported FOLAR’s K-12 education program that serves nearly 4,000 public elementary school children a year with hands-on field trips, along with the River Fellows internship program that provides career pathways to eco-STEM jobs for high school students.
